A semi finalist from The Voice UK and a star of The Bill and Coronation Street will take to the stage in the West Midlands later this year.

Bill Kenwright’s production of one of the greatest family musicals of all time, The Sound Of Music, is currently on tour around the UK and will visit the West Midlands in both May and October 2016. This wonderfully lavish staging of the classic musical is directed by Martin Connor, choreographed by Olivier Award winner Bill Deamer with musical direction by David Steadman.

The role of Maria will continue to be played by runner up of BBC1’s 'The Voice UK', Lucy O’Byrne, with Andrew Lancel joining the company as Captain Von Trapp.

Lucy became a household name when she shot to success as the runner-up in series 4 of 'The Voice UK'. She made history as the first classical singer to reach the final, impressing the nation with her stunning vocal range. Now, having recently performed at the BBC Proms, she makes her musical debut as Maria. 

Andrew Lancel is best known as super-villain Frank Foster in 'Coronation Street'. He also played DI Neil Manson in long-running ITV series, 'The Bill'. His numerous stage credits include Bill Kenwright’s touring productions of 'The Small Hand' and 'Twelve Angry Men'. 

The Sound Of Music visits Birmingham Hippodrome from 24th May and Wolverhampton Grand from 4th October.
