Woman before court after setting fire to charity shop donations

A woman who set fire to donations left outside a Halesowen charity shop has been ordered to pay £250 compensation.

51 year-old Michelle Brenda Smith started the fire on January 21, and destroyed the window of the British Heart Foundation shop in the town’s High Street.

Smith, of George Road, Halesowen, was fined £30 when she appeared before Dudley Magistrates Court. She was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and £135 court costs.
