Brothers open gym in heart of DY5 Enterprise Zone

Two brothers are set to open a state-of-the-art gym in the heart of DY5, Dudley’s business and innovation enterprise zone.

Harry and Hugo Morris from Stourbridge are directors of Fitness Studio 46, a new boutique style gym, which will open in a 700sq ft. unit on the Waterfront in Brierley Hill next month. It will make Fitness Studio 46 the 27th business to open within the enterprise zone since it launched two years ago.

The studio will offer a high quality experience for people wanting to keep fit and, as a small business, the studio will be eligible for business rate relief. Alan Lunt, Deputy Chief Executive and strategic director of place at Dudley Council, said:

"Through the enterprise zone, we’re trying to turn around the fortunes of the Waterfront and create an area which is thriving in terms of business and jobs.

"But we need to think beyond the workplace and create a community which offers a variety of facilities and social experiences, which will encourage people to want to work and live here. I wish Fitness Studio 46 the best of luck in their new venture.”

Harry Morris, director of Fitness Studio 46, added:

"My brother and I have a huge passion for training, learning, business and most of all, helping others to achieve their health and fitness goals.
Over the past couple of years, I have created a successful coaching business but I’m now keen to set down roots and be at the heart of the community at the Waterfront, providing a service for people who live and work here.

"Our studio will offer a non-intimidating and exceptionally high standard of personal training, in an exclusive environment, with premium equipment in a beautiful location at an affordable price. We’re excited at the prospect of being within the enterprise zone.”

The gym will be offering a free seven day trial when it opens on May 1.

In 2017 Dudley Council launched DY5, Dudley’s business and innovation and enterprise zone to rejuvenate the Waterfront office complex at Merry Hill and create additional office, technology and industrial space in the surrounding areas of Brierley Hill, Harts Hill and Pensnett.

In the space of two years, 26 businesses have already taken up residency within the zone, 610 new jobs created, with five hectares of land developed and nearly 6,000sqm of existing floor space refurbished.

All of the businesses have either expanded, relocated or are brand new and represent a range of sectors, including retail, office and industrial.
