Changes to borough kerbside collections over Christmas

Dudley borough residents are reminded there will be changes to waste and recycling collections over Christmas.

Households will have altered collections between Saturday 19 December and Friday 1 January, and flyers detailing the changes are being delivered to all borough homes.

Waste and recycling should be placed outside for collection by 6:15am and residents are advised that collections may be earlier than usual during the festive period.

Residents are asked to ensure that the grey bin lid is shut and to not put out any additional waste sacks, as they will not be collected.

Any additional bulky waste can be collected via the council’s chargeable bulky waste collection service. The household waste sites also recycle many items, including Christmas trees and unwanted electrical goods. Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for public realm, said:

“This year has been difficult for everyone as a result of Covid-19, but our council waste and recycling collection teams have worked hard to ensure everyone gets their bins emptied and recycling collected.

“Flyers have been distributed to all borough residents detailing changes to collection dates over the Christmas and New Year period, as we know the bin and recycling collections are important to everyone.

“Loads of items can be recycled, reused or reduced, including cards, wrapping paper, cardboard packaging, boxes and plastic bottles, so please consider what you can do to help recycle.”

Residents are asked to wash hands thoroughly and clean bins and recycling containers to help reduce the risk of coronavirus transmission.

Details of the changes for the collection dates can also be found at dudley.gov.uk.
