People will be able to get out of the cold and warm up with a cuppa as Himley’s popular coffee lounge will now open all year round.
The Dudley Council-run café, is based in two of the larger rooms in the hall, and looks out onto the terrace, lawns and lake in the distance.
Since it opened earlier this year, hundreds of visitors have stopped by to sample the variety of tea, coffees, light refreshments, warming soups, jacket potatoes and a range of cakes.
Due to popular demand, the coffee lounge will now remain open throughout the autumn and winter seasons, on Wednesdays through to Sundays from 11am to 4pm. The lounge opens directly into the hall’s gallery space so visitors can view the latest exhibition during their time in the hall.
The hall’s latest exhibition is ‘Four in the Frame’, a collection of artwork by four local artists, Hazel Gillard, Jacqueline Bradley, Steve Millward and Alex Maczkowski. Councillor Keiran Casey, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said:
"The coffee lounge at Himley Hall is a fantastic place to relax after visiting the hall or after a walk around the beautiful park. I’m really pleased it’s proved popular with people since opening and with events and exhibitions planned all year round, it makes sense to have the coffee lounge open as well.
"It means not only can you treat yourself to afternoon tea as a treat on a beautiful summer’s afternoon but can now pop in and warm up with a hot drink in the winter too."
Access to the coffee lounge is through the side entrance by the South Wing entrance of the main hall. There is full disabled access, toilets and baby changing facilities and although dogs are not allowed in the hall, assistance dogs are welcome.
The hall also offers pre-booked, indulgent afternoon teas on selected dates throughout the year. Visitors are advised that the Coffee Lounge will be closed on certain dates throughout the winter season, including the weekend of the bonfire.
