Derelict Halesowen garage to be demolished

Planning permission has been sought to knock down a run down garage on the council-owned Birmingham Street car park in the town centre.

Dudley Council has submitted the application to flatten the former Tibbetts garage which has stood empty for decades, attracting drug users and fly tippers.

Cllr David Vickers, councillor for Halesowen South, who has campaigned for the move said he is pleased that it looks set to go. He said:

"It has been an eyesore for years. I can remember it when it used to be a working garage but we really need to get rid of it now. I'm pleased things are moving forward."

The application states that works are intended to start week commencing Monday 31st January.
