Providing good quality parks and supporting voluntary and community groups are just two of a series of pledges from Dudley Council to make the borough a great and prosperous place for everyone.

The pledges come through the Dudley Deal, an informal agreement with three distinct strands between the council and anyone who lives, works or runs a business in the borough.

The Business Deal is about growing the economy, the Community Deal about further supporting stronger communities and the Green Deal about focusing on a cleaner, greener borough.

Each sets out what the council will commit to and also how residents, businesses and community groups can play their part too. These pledges will continue to be developed in partnership with the community.

Following the successful launch of the Business Deal in October, in which the council pledges to make it easier for firms to do business with the authority, the Community Deal and Green Deal go live today. Leader of Dudley Council Councillor Patrick Harley said: 

"As a council we’re committed to doing our bit to make our borough a great and prosperous place for everyone who lives and works here. Through the three distinct strands of the Dudley Deal - the Business Deal for growing the economy, the Community Deal for further supporting stronger communities and the Green Deal which focuses on a cleaner, greener borough we’re committing to this series of pledges.

"But there’s also so much that residents and businesses can do too. Whether it’s recycling more, volunteering or getting involved in community activities or using our online services these all make a difference.”

Through the Communities Deal the council pledges to support voluntary and community groups across the borough, invest in helping to make the borough safer and provide opportunities for people to be involved in decisions about your community. People can do their bit by volunteering with sports, social or community groups in their community, getting involved in community activities and taking care of their health and wellbeing.

Through the Green Deal the council pledges to deliver a comprehensive recycling service and weekly waste collections, provide good quality parks and nature reserves and reduce pollution by tackling congestion.

Residents can support by recycling, getting involved in Friends of Parks groups or becoming a snow buster and reporting issues such as potholes online.

In the Business Deal, launched in October the council pledges to cut red tape to make it easier for firms to do business with it and support business start-up and business growth through ‘Dudley Business First. Businesses can do their bit by actively looking for opportunities to supply goods and services to Dudley Council, buying local and using local supply chains where possible and recruiting locally and offering work placements and apprenticeships.
