Dudley MP asks ministers to discuss fairer funding for Dudley

Dudley North MP, Ian Austin, stood up in Treasury Questions to ask Ministers to meet him and people in Dudley to discuss their case for fairer funding.

Recent cuts in in government funding have seen Dudley Council lose £76 million since 2010 and this will rise to £92 million by 2019/20.

These cutbacks have almost halved the money available for education, roads in the borough, social care, youth clubs, libraries, nurseries and other services. Mr Austin said:

“It isn’t possible to lose that amount of funding without an impact on local people. The truth is that cuts in government funding have seen Dudley Council lose over £70 million since 2010, almost halving the money available for local roads, housing, care and other services.

“That’s why I am urging the Government to ensure that Dudley council gets the funding it urgently needs and deserves.”
