Enjoy a candlelit Christmas with Sandwell Museums

Sandwell Museums are busy preparing for three evenings of winter wonder as they open their doors for a series of candlelight Christmas events.

For many people these evenings are the start of their Christmas and really get them in the festive mood and after a year’s absence the events are back, guaranteed to give you a warm glow and that traditional Christmassy feeling.

Enjoy Oak House, Haden Hill House and Haden Old Hall beautifully decorated with traditional decorations and real greenery and discover what Christmas was like long ago.

The houses will be beautifully lit with candles to create that cosy atmosphere and visitors can enjoy historic live music and costumed characters along with craft demonstrations, singing and food preparation. Councillor Maria Crompton, Sandwell Council’s deputy leader, said:

“It’s fantastic to be able to welcome people back into our museums once again this Christmas, as they really come to life at this time of year.

“Many of our Christmas activities are for children and families and it’s nice to be able to offer something for older children and adults to enjoy, although everyone is welcome.”

Haden Hill House’s candlelit evenings are on Thursday 2 and 9 December from 6pm-8.30pm and cost £5 plus a small booking fee, with the Oak House event on Friday 10 December from 4pm-8.30pm at a cost of £2 plus a small booking fee.

Pre-booking a time slot for entry is essential to limit numbers and keep visitors safe.
