A fire broke out at the weekend at a home believed to be being used as a cannabis factory in Quarry Bank.

It started at a semi-detached house on Lynvale Road at around 3am on Saturday morning and spread to a neighbouring semi-detached house.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed that the house was "a suspected cannabis factory." They said the fire service is waiting for the property to be deemed safe before people are allowed inside.

A resident on the ‘Spotted! Quarry Bank, Then & Now’ group on Facebook spoke of their shock. They said:

"[We were] woken up at 3am to loads of noise and flashing lights. I looked out the window to see fire engines, police cars and an ambulance. The next thing I noticed was smoke billowing from my next door neighbours house.

"Thankfully they are both okay thanks to another neighbour raising the alarm and getting them out. The fire started in the loft of the next house down to my neighbours and quickly spread to theirs.

"There’s extensive damage to both properties but thankfully no one was injured."
