Halesowen resident set to trek Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for mental health

Local resident, Alison Hemming from Halesowen, is set to trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of mental health charity Mind.

Alison, 37, a secondary school teacher and mum of 3 young children, hopes that with the support of her students, colleagues, friends and family, and the local community, she will raise an incredible £3000 for Mind which provides support and advice for anyone experience mental health problems. Alison said,

“I am thrilled to be trekking up Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Mind. This is one of the toughest, yet most thrilling challenges of my life. Knowing the money I raise will be used to improve the lives of people living with mental health problems throughout the UK is amazing.

“I’m taking part in this event for Mind because I really believe in their cause. The charity helps the one in four people in the UK that experience a mental health problem every year. I know what it is like to battle with a mental health problem and also work everyday to support young people who are struggling with their own mental health problems.

"The money raised will fund vital work including the Mind Infoline, advice services and the campaigning Mind does.”
