Just when you thought Christmas dinner couldn’t get any better, the Tipton based pie factory has taken it one step further, enveloping everyone's favourite festive feast in pastry.

Legendary pie makers Mad O’Rourkes will launch their Santa Pie next month as part of their festive restaurant menu and online through their Pies by Post home delivery service.

Described as Christmas Day in a pie, the Santa Pie contains all the best bits of your turkey dinner with all the trimmings, topped off with a Yorkshire pudding filled with even more of your festive favourites. 

The perfect alternative for those looking to serve up something quirkier on the Christmas dinner table, the pie is part of the factory’s limited edition Christmas range which also features the turkey, veg and gravy filled Mrs Claus Pie and a festive take on their popular Desperate Dan beef pie. 

A Black Country institution, there has been a hostelry on the corner of Hurst Lane and Sedgley Road West in Tipton since the 1860’s. The former Doughety Arms was renamed Mad O’Rourkes Pie Factory in 1987 and they’ve been making their famous pies there ever since. Having taken over the business from the O’Rourke family in 2000, former pastry chef Peter Towler has been perfecting his recipes for over three decades, turning the factory into the much loved foodie destination it is today. 

After the pandemic prevented diners from visiting Mad O’Rourkes in person, the company launched its Pies by Post service, bringing boxes of their Black Country classics to the masses. Customers now have the option of selecting some of the Mad O’Rourkes most popular flavours to be enjoyed in the comfort of their own homes. Mad O’Rourkes owner Peter Towler said:

“We’ve been making our Santa pies for the last 30 years and they’re always really popular. It’s something a bit different to your normal Christmas dinner and even better now that our customers outside of the Midlands can enjoy them too through Pies by Post.  

"We’ll be delivering right up to Christmas so we’d urge people to get in there fast to make sure they don’t miss out!”

The Santa Pie will be available to order in the restaurant from 1st December. Pre-orders will be taken from Thursday 25th November on madpiesonline.co.uk for home delivery from 1st December onwards.

Last orders for home delivery must be made by the 20th for delivery before Christmas.
