Man who set fire to hospital bedding avoids time in jail

An Oldbury man who set fire to his bedding at Sandwell Hospital has been spared jail time.

Dudley Magistrates heard that 69 year-old Dermot Donnelly of Wallace Close, put public and staff at risk, and caused hospital beds to close, following the incident last February.

He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay £450 in compensation.
