Mince pies served up for Mayor's Christmas carol concert

A Sandwell supermarket has generously donated more than 300 mince pies for the Mayor of Sandwells civic carol concert on Saturday..

Sandwell Mayor, Councillor Dr Ann Jaron received the early Christmas present from community colleague Parv Basi and deputy store manager James Farrell at the Asda store in Great Bridge.She said:

"I would like to say a really big thank you to Asda Great Bridge for their generous donation once again.

"Their regular support for the Mayor's Christmas carol concert is very much appreciated. Selling the mince pies at the concert will help us raise more funds to help the charities."

Monies raised from the concert will be donated to her charities which are Brushstrokes Community Project and Sandwell Young Carers.

The line up for this year's concert - the 130th - features Sandwell Youth Brass Band, the  Saint Catherine of Siena Academy choir plus soloists Isabel Cash and Becki Challoner.

The compere is Phil Challoner and the choir director is Tanya Derham with the programme including Christmas songs and carols to get you in the festive mood.

Members of the Sandwell District Scouts will be serving refreshments.

The concert, which is being held at West Bromwich Town Hall, starts at 6.30pm. Tickets are available online at sandwell.gov.uk/carolconcert or from The Peoples Box Office at West Bromwich Town Hall.
