School pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) will take part in a series of pop-up shops in Dudley during May, June and July.

The pop-ups are being organised by the Black Country Careers Hub, the Careers and Enterprise Company for local Special Schools and Dudley College in partnership with Connexions Dudley and Dudley Council.

Stalls are being run on set dates at Provision House in Dudley town centre and will give participants the chance to advertise and sell preloved and handcrafted items to members of the public.

The stalls will count towards young people’s school and college learning, while providing valuable work experience. Councillor Patrick Harley, leader elect at Dudley Council, said:

"We are working with our partners to build a Child Friendly Borough where all our children and young people are given the chance to learn, grow and thrive.

"Young people with SEND can find it difficult to secure work experience but the pop-up shops will give them a great opportunity to gain skills and build confidence in a real work setting.

"I’m sure the local community will get on board and support the stalls, where people will be able to find interesting and unique items."
