Three great local bands win support slots with King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys in Brierley Hill

Three talented local musicians have won the opportunity to support a renowned swing band at Brierley Hill Civic Hall on the 24 October 2018.

Their chance to perform comes after Black Country Radio ran a competition to find the best local talent in the area. After sifting through large volumes of applicants, the judges chose three winners; Amoeba Teen, Sunjay and Gasoline and Matches.

Stourbridge band, Amoeba Teen, will bring their indie power pop sound to the stage, with influences ranging from 'Jellyfish' to 'Teenage Fanclub'. Sunjay is another performer from Stourbridge - a winner at the New Roots folk competition in St Alban's, he's also received nominations in the Exposure Music Awards and the British Blues Awards, and has supported Steeleye Span on tour.

Lyrics magazine’s 'one’s to watch of 2018', Gasoline and Matches, are another award-nominated band. Sally Rea Morris and Steve Marks deliver a unique blend of Fleetwood Mac-esque harmonies, Brad Paisley-infused guitar solos and energetic live performances.

All these acts are ones to watch for the future and, in addition to supporting King Pleasure, they’ll also be receiving a day in the studio with full production, courtesy of Serious Studios.

Headliners for the gig, King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, are well and truly established on the live music scene. Their dazzling musicianship, riveting stage performances and more than 50 TV appearances have established the guys as the kings of swing. In that time they have opened shows for B.B. King and Ray Charles and toured with the original Blues Brothers Band!

The event is part of Black Country Radio Rocks; an initiative to raise funds for the station. Alex Totney, CEO of Black Country Radio said:

“We’re really excited that we have some amazing support acts at the gig on 24th October. All the entries were really high quality and it just shows the emerging musical talent across the Black Country.

We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us putting on this night - the event at Brierley Hill Civic will be a night of great fun and entertainment - so book your tickets now!"

Tickets are £13.50 plus booking fee and are available by visiting blackcountryradio.co.uk and click on the King Pleasure link.
