Walsall for All calls for businesses, organisations and individuals to ‘pledge’ for change

The 'Walsall for All' initiative has launched the ‘Pledge’ - an initiative to encourage businesses, organisations and individuals to work together to create a more cohesive, inclusive and integrated Walsall.

'The Pledge' is a joint venture between Walsall for All and brap, a charity that supports organisations, communities, and cities with meaningful approaches to learning, change, research, and engagement.

It is split into two key categories; the Organisation Pledge and the People Pledge, both of which will provide learning opportunities to develop a wider and deeper understanding of cohesion and integration. These include free Unconscious Bias Training and a series of resources to help guide and learn more about what it means to become more inclusive and a badge to promote commitment to the Pledge across marketing materials and social media.

The launch comes in the light of significant social change as a result of coronavirus. Walsall for All says that the Pledge is a way for people to commit to a better future for everyone and to ensure that the many and varied community relationships that have been built during lockdown are not forgotten. Councillor Garry Perry, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Communities, said:

“The social impact of the community response to COVID has been massive at a local and neighbourhood level where we have seen countless acts of kindness and support.

"The Pledge is more than a word and I hope that as many individuals, businesses and organisations sign up to make that ongoing difference pledging to be a better person, to donate time, talent or resource.

"Sharing ideas, providing mutual aid, creating and enhancing innovation these all make for stronger communities – make the Pledge to make the difference.”
