The Post Office is to spend millions of pounds on its first television ads since the Horizon IT scandal, as it seeks to raise awareness of its range of bankjng services during a critical period for the state-owned company.
Sky News understands that the Post Office will launch a seven-figure TV campaign in the next fortnight, with the slogan 'We've got your bank'.
The marketing blitz, which will highlight the availability of banking services in Post Office branches to customers of major high street lenders, will promote the Post Office brand on TV for the first time in a decade.
It signed a new banking framework agreement with dozens of lenders, including Barclays, HSBC and NatWest last year to provide Britons with basic banking until 2030.
The TV ads will come nearly three years after the ITV drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office cast a renewed spotlight on the Horizon crisis, and led to an overhaul in the way hundreds of sub-postmasters' compensation claims were dealt with following one of Britain's biggest miscarriages of justice.
Sir Wyn Williams's final report on the scandal is due to be published next year.
The Post Office, which receives an annual subsidy from the government, has recruited a new leadership team in a bid to improve its culture and financial performance, and has already significantly enhanced the pay deals received by thousands of sub-postmasters.
Its new TV ads will also be launched at a time when access to cash and high street banking services remains high on the political agenda, with a report by the former Which? boss Richard Lloyd on the subject expected to be published shortly.
A Post Office spokesperson said: "Post Office is a vital part of the UK's cash infrastructure and we want to make sure everyone is aware of the banking services at 10,000 Post Office branches.
"We're investing in our network and launching our first TV advertising campaign in years as customers and businesses head into the busy Christmas period looking for ways to manage their money."
