Communities across the West Midlands are set to benefit from a major £1.4 million investment aimed at tackling crime, disorder, anti-social behaviour and re-offending.
The funding, allocated by Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster, will support 66 projects delivered through Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs) spanning all seven policing areas: Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton.
This fresh injection of cash underlines the Commissioner’s continued commitment to prevention, early intervention and partnership working – ensuring resources are directed where they are most needed to keep communities safe and secure.
Birmingham will receive over £613,000 supporting nine key initiatives. Major allocations include £185,000 to investigate domestic abuse-related deaths and £115,953 to tackle modern slavery. Additional investment will fund city centre anti-social behaviour officers and strengthen work addressing serious organised crime and violence against women and girls.
In Coventry, more than £153,000 will fund community-led initiatives such as £36,000 for Community Wardens and targeted programmes like domestic abuse perpetrator mentoring and youth engagement projects.
Sandwell will also receive £153,000, including £55,000 for a dedicated anti-social behaviour officer and a range of mentoring programmes designed to steer young people away from crime and exploitation.
Wolverhampton’s £139,362 allocation includes significant investment in youth violence prevention, community cohesion and anti-social behaviour initiatives, alongside continued support for domestic homicide reviews.
Across Dudley, Walsall and Solihull, funding will support a diverse range of programmes – from youth justice mentoring, neighbourhood safety initiatives and targeted interventions addressing vulnerability and exploitation.
Community Safety Partnerships bring together police, local authorities, health services and other organisations to deliver coordinated, evidence-based responses to local challenges.
Announcing the funding boost to support the region, PCC Simon Foster said: “Keeping our communities safe and secure is my absolute priority. This £1.4 million investment is about delivering real, tangible action and outcomes – supporting projects that prevent and tackle crime and anti-social behaviour and reduce re-offending across the West Midlands.
“By working in partnership through our Community Safety Partnerships, we are ensuring that resources are targeted where they will have the greatest impact – protecting the most vulnerable, supporting victims and addressing the root causes of crime.
“This funding will help ensure that people, families, businesses and local communities are safe, so that everyone in our region is able to flourish and thrive.”
