Dudley Council for Voluntary Services are hosting a fashion show at Brierley Hill Civic Hall to raise valuable funds for their 'Operation Santa' appeal.
The event, to be held on 10th May from 7pm will set guests back £5 per ticket, which entitles them to a free welcome drink and an enjoyable evening surrounded by clothes and accessories, with great music, and a visit from a VIP guest. The first 30 guests through the door will also receive a free goodie bag and hors-d'oeuvres.
The night will be opened by fashion students from Dudley Evolve College, with a fabulous catwalk display of some of their own work. Following this, there will be four themed catwalks including summer wear, casual wear, special events such as weddings, and party/evening wear.
During the event, guests can shop for pre-loved designer and branded women's clothing and accessories, alongside new items donated from a well-known high street retailer. Designer dresses from the catwalk will be auctioned off at the end of the night. There will be women's clothes for all shapes and sizes and for every age, some new and some pre-loved.
Brett Harris, owner of Blaze Hairdressers in Kingswinford and business ambassador for Operation Santa, will have a stall offering hair consultations whilst stylists from the salon, also known as the Operation Santa 'Blaze Angels', will also be doing the catwalk model's hair and makeup.
One lucky winner of the raffle prize will receive a one-off piece of clothing to be custom made by a fashion student from Evolve College. Prizes also include four tickets to 'The Breakfast Club' performance at the Brierley Hill Civic, tickets to the Ultimate Soul and Motown night, and lots more mystery prizes! Rose Cook Monk, Operation Santa supporter, said:
"This is the first year we have hosted a fashion show for Operation Santa. We had a big collection for the appeal last Christmas and received quite a lot of brand new clothing, and a really nice donation of designer clothing from a well-known actress - which is where the idea for the fashion show came from."
Operation Santa is a local campaign run by Dudley CVS. Every year donations of new toys, gifts, food etc. are collected and distributed to local voluntary and community groups who support children, young people and families in crisis within Dudley borough. Eileen Fielding, Volunteer Manager at Dudley CVS, added:
Every penny raised at the fashion show will help us to make this year's Operation Santa appeal better than ever and reach more children and young people across the Dudley borough.
"The money raised will go towards putting on Christmas parties in different parts of the borough, providing a hot Christmas lunch, fun and games, and a grotto with presents, for local children and young people who may otherwise not get a Christmas lunch."
Local businessman and long term Operation Santa supporter, Geoff Hill, has also donated £1000 which will treat many children and young people, who would not normally get the opportunity, to enjoy a night out at the Panto.
