A real-life Fiddler on the Roof visited Birmingham ahead of the smash-hit show opening at The Alexandra Theatre next month.
This December, Birmingham audiences will be treated to four weeks of the Olivier award-winning musical, Fiddler on the Roof which plays at The Alexandra for a festive run from 9th December to 3rd January.
Ahead of the shows arrival, Roman Lytwyniw, who is the alternate Fiddler in the production, paid a visit to the second city and took to the roof of the 124-year-old theatre to take in the sights.
Following sold-out seasons at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and London's Barbican Theatre, the UK tour of this musical masterpiece is the first in over 12 years, featuring one of the finest scores ever written including: ‘If I Were A Rich Man’, ‘Tradition’, ‘Matchmaker’ and ‘Sunrise, Sunset’.
It’s 1905 in the tiny village of Anatevka where Tevye, a Jewish milkman, lives his life by their proud traditions. For his five daughters, that means a visit from the matchmaker.
As each daughter challenges his beliefs, against the backdrop of a changing world, can Tevye hold on to his roots, or must he bend to the will of his children and learn to embrace the unfamiliar?
