Heading back-to-school has never felt better for students at one Walsall academy after a summer of site improvements.
E-ACT Academy Trust invested £500,000 into its Willenhall school, which has included installing interactive whiteboards and blinds in every classroom, extensive groundworks, and new pavements which will make it easier for pupils to travel in and around school.
The academy has also recently appointed 26 additional specialist teachers following a recruitment drive.
The school has seen a growing demand for places from local families, and this September has welcomed nearly 250 new Year 7 students.
Tim Marston, Headteacher at Willenhall Academy, said, “We know the potential of the students in this community, and our goal is to improve their academic outcomes by creating an environment where every day is enjoyable and purposeful for them.
“While we’ve already made significant progress, there’s still more to come, and it’s exciting for me to see the momentum building. The growing number of families choosing our academy is what will enable us to continue investing in our future and the future of our students.”
Councillor Pardeep Kaur, Portfolio Holder for Education and Skills at Walsall Council, said, “All the summer upgrades at Willenhall Academy sound fantastic, and ones that students will benefit from every day they are at school.
“Our young people spend a lot of time at school, and we want the learning environment to be a place where they can thrive. I hope all the new and returning pupils have enjoyed the start of term, and I look forward to hearing more about the exciting plans for the future.”
In October, the school plans to unveil its new playground, fully equipped with basketball courts, football grids and new seating.
