Alex Nicholls put in temporary charge of Stourbridge FC

Stourbridge Football Club have announced that midfielder Alex Nicholls will take charge of the team temporarily, making his debut at last night's match 3-1 away loss at Royston Town.

He will be assisted by first team coach Lee Brown, as well as goalkeeper James Wren. It follows the sudden departure of Ian Long, who left the War Memorial Ground earlier this week by mutual consent.

The club has already revealed that some of Ian Long's backroom team have also left the club, but has not released any further details. A statement by the club said:

"We thank Alex for agreeing to take on the responsibility of overseeing the away fixture at Royston following the decision of several of the previous backroom staff to leave the club. We wish him, Lee and James well."

The club has also confirmed that it has received several expressions of interest in the vacant manager's position. It said "due processes will now take place to appoint a successor to Ian Long in the near future".
