Alexandra Theatre extends closure until August

In a further blow to the theatre industry, bosses at Birmingham's Alexandra Theatre have confirmed that all performances at the venue have been suspended until Sunday 2 August.

The venue, run by the Ambassador Theatre Group, published its intentions on social media, a move which garnered support from patrons who expressed both their understanding at the groups decision but also their disdain at the lack of government support for the sector. A spokesperson for the theatre said:

"We have successfully rescheduled hundreds of wonderful shows all the way through to the end of 2021 and we thank everyone for their patience as we automatically move these customers into the new dates and contact them with all the details.

"If you have a booking that is affected by this suspension, you do not need to do anything. Over the coming weeks we will contact you directly and will be able to handle all your requests and enquiries.

"As you can imagine, we have a large number of customers that we are assisting, so we ask that you please bear with us. With your ongoing support and commitment we believe we can come back faster and stronger than ever before."

For customers where shows have been postponed (and not yet rescheduled) ATG will issue a full credit voucher, including all fees, that is valid to use on future shows up to 31 December 2021. Full credit vouchers or refunds are available for all cancelled shows.
