Staff and councillors from Dudley Council will again be pitching in for charity at the annual cricket match this month.

A team of officers from the authority will be taking on elected members on July 30. The teams will be raising money for the Mayor of Dudley’s charities - the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, Dudley Mind and the Mayor’s community fund.

Both teams will be raring to go from 6pm at the War Memorial Ground in High Street, Amblecote. Councillor Anne Millward, Mayor of Dudley, said:

"The annual cricket match is always a lot of fun and raises much needed funds for charity at the same time. I’m so grateful to Stourbridge Cricket Club and the players for giving up their time to raise money.

"Members of the public are most welcome to come along and watch the game and help support the charities too."

The annual game, which is organised by Councillor Mohammed Hanif, raises hundreds of pounds but has suffered setbacks because of the pandemic. Stourbridge Cricket Club provide the ground and facilities for free.
