A teenager has been seriously injured after the bike he was riding hit signage in Birmingham city centre.
The 16-year-old was riding a petrol-powered off-road bike on Digbeth High Street at around 8:50pm on Tuesday evening when an officer on an e-bike attempted to stop him.
The rider then hit signage and came off the bike. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.
The matter has been referred to the police Professional Standards Department, as is standard practice, and the circumstances remain under investigation.
Officers would urge anyone with dashcam, mobile phone or CCTV footage to get in touch via 101, quoting log 5533.
