Police are appealing for information after a dog walker and one of his pets were injured following a hit-and-run collision in Coseley.

The 35-year-old man was crossing the road at the junction of Wallbrook Street and Old Meetings Road with his three Dachshund dogs when he was struck by a small, five-door silver Toyota car at around 9.45pm on 24 October.

He suffered a serious ear injury, broken wrist and hand while his dog suffered a shattered hip which required surgery; the other two animals were unhurt.

Officers believe there would have been damage to the bonnet and are appealing for anyone who has seen the vehicle to come forward. PC David Walker, from Force Traffic, said:

"This was a nasty collision which left a man and a pet dog injured and we want to find whoever was responsible. We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was travelling in the area at the time and may have seen or heard anything.

"We are also seeking to trace anybody who may have seen the vehicle since. It would have suffered some front end damage which would be noticeable; it may have been taken somewhere for repairs. 

"I would urge anyone who remembers seeing a damaged vehicle like this to get in touch as soon as possible."
