Appeal for help sees over £5000 raised to cover vets bills

Mila, a Bedlington Terrier owned by a Halesowen family, was savagely beaten during a break in at the family home last week.

When her owner, Julie Green, returned home she found the back door had been forced open and discovered 18-month-old Mila cowering in a bush in the back garden unable to walk. Along with her daughter, she rushed Mila to the vets where an initial examination revealed the 18 month old puppy had been repeatedly kicked in the head.

Alongside a concern for their dog, the family were also concerned about covering the cost of vets bills, as Mila underwent x-ray's and numerous tests to determine the extent of her injuries.

Julie said: “We’ve had some help with the fees and people have been helping us along. I would ask anyone who can help the police to contact them.”

However, after a Just Giving page was set up and various Facebook groups and forums heard about the plight, over £5000 has been donated against the target of £1500. Details of the Just Giving page can be found at http://bit.ly/1Rwqs02.

Reports say Mila has had a scan and her spinal cord is intact, with vets thinking her collar bone is the issue with the impact putting it out of alignment. She is being monitored and reassessed tomorrow when the family hope for further positive developments.
