People are being urged to donate their unwanted pallets to help build a huge bonfire at Himley Park for Saturday November 5.

Bosses at the Dudley Council-owned beauty spot are appealing for help from local companies who can donate unbroken, wooden pallets to build the giant bonfire for this year’s event.

Run in association with Whittaker Bros Ltd, the show will dazzle the audience with this year's incredible pyrotechnic show to an “Around the World in 80 Days” theme. A night market, street entertainers, seasonal refreshments and a huge funfair will also be in the park.

Limited tickets for the premium viewing area are available online, on a first come-first served basis. This area is next to the hall on the south lawns and has an elevated view of the park and lake. There are also food and drink vendors including alcoholic beverages which will only be available in this area.

Standard tickets will include access to the main park area, where alcohol will not be on sale, night market and funfair. Councillor Shaun Keasey, cabinet member for commercialisation and HR, said:

"As autumn rolls around we know people will be turning their thoughts to Bonfire night and we cannot wait to welcome families back to the park for our incredible annual event.

"We are lucky to be tremendously supported by local companies that donate huge numbers of pallets and we’re calling on local businesses to help us again this year. Anyone who can help is urged to get in touch as soon as possible."

Pallets cannot be collected but deliveries are accepted at Himley Hall. Only full pallets can be accepted – fence panels, trees, branches and other wood are not suitable. Deliveries need to be booked in with the team by calling 01384 817834 or 01384 917822.
