Dudley Council has given the go-ahead for a new micro-pub despite police being short of details to give their opinion.
Planners at the authority said yes to a change for use for a shop on Shell Corner near Blackheath to become a microbar for a maximum of 30 drinkers.
The new bar, at 294B Long Lane, was approved despite West Midlands Police telling planners they did not have enough information to deliver their verdict.
The force’s designing out crime officer, Bob Mason, said: “I cannot really comment on this application due to the lack of information, all I have is a drawing which only shows a door and a toilet.
“If the applicant could provide me with more details, I could give a better response but at the moment I have very little to work with.”
Mr Mason added he was only able to provide basic crime information for the last 12 months for the post code area. There were two antisocial behaviour offences, two cases of vehicle crime, four burglaries and 27 incidents of violent crime reported during this period.
A report from Dudley Council planning officers said the bar would operate with two members of staff on weekdays and four members of staff at busier times.
The bar, which will have a darts theme, is located off a service road which provides parking for 10 to 12 cars and no changes would be made to the external appearances of the premises.
The report, which recommended approval, added: “Given the site’s location, and subject to necessary conditions to restrict opening hours and delivery times, the noise associated from the business can be suitably mitigated to protect the amenities of the neighbouring residents.”
The application was approved on condition the bar would only open from noon to 11pm on weekdays, noon until midnight on Saturdays and not before noon or after 10pm on Sundays or bank holidays.
Deliveries will only be permitted between 8am and 6pm Monday to Saturday and not at all on Sundays or public holidays.
