BBC Gardeners' World Live returns to Birmingham

Over four days in August, a one-off version of BBC Gardeners’ World Live returns to Birmingham’s NEC with a selection of favourite outdoor features from the much-loved annual event.

The curated Special Edition will be full of gardening inspiration and entertainment for visitors to enjoy including stunning Show Gardens, inspirational Beautiful Borders and top tips from green-fingered experts.

The line-up for this year’s special edition includes BBC Two’s Gardeners’ World presenters; Adam Frost (Thursday), Monty Don (Friday and Saturday) and Carol Klein (Sunday). Toby Buckland also joins the line-up on Thursday and Friday. Visitors will be able to drop in at the brand-new My Gardeners’ World Stage to hear the experts share their ideas, stories, tips and techniques, as well as how to be more aware of the impact that our gardens can have on wildlife and plants.

Visitors can explore a wide range of vibrant Show Gardens and Beautiful Borders – an exciting and colourful collection of gardens brought to life in a celebration of how imagination and creativity can transform outdoor space. The unique designs include space savvy ideas, up-cycling and recycling, growing edibles and how gardens can benefit communities and our overall health and wellbeing.

Over 25 garden designers will be taking part in the Beautiful Borders including locally based Cath Fletcher of Fletcher Garden & Horticulture with ‘In Momento’, full of summer floral exuberance, and Deborah Hale with ‘Who says I can’t see’ which challenges the notion that we only see with our eyes and invites visitors to enjoy the texture, smell, sounds and overall sensory delights that a garden can bring.

The show is also home to a large Floral Marquee, full of award-winning nurseries and displays. This year redesigned with more space between stands to browse and shop, the exhibits will reflect the later timing of the Show with displays highlighting plants in their peak during late summer and early autumn, an angle not usually seen at the Show.

As the show moves outdoors this year, a handpicked selection of artisan food and drink producers from the BBC Good Food Show will be bringing the flavour of summer to an outdoor BBC Good Food Market. Adam Frost, who will be sharing his tips and advice at this year’s show on Thursday 26th August, said:

“After a tough year, we’re thrilled to be able to bring BBC Gardeners’ World Live back for this Special Edition. Being later in the year than usual, it’s a wonderful chance to embrace what’s going on in our gardens in the late summer and early autumn.

“The show is the perfect place for the gardening community and plant-lovers to come together and celebrate everything our gardens have to offer. I’ll be live on stage on Thursday, giving handy tips and talking about my own gardening experience, with Monty Don and Carol Klein attending later in the week. We can’t wait to see you there!”
