Local's are invited to step into a world of glitter balls and glamour as Birmingham Gay Symphony Orchestra hosts a dazzling afternoon of Latin and ballroom magic.
You can join the fun at 3pm on Saturday 6th December at The Church at Carr’s Lane for a concert that promises sparkle, style, and sheer joy.
The orchestra will perform works evoking the elegance of classical ballroom. They'll waltz to Johann Strauss Jr's The Blue Danube, swing to a Duke Ellington medley, and feel the heat with de Falla's show-stopping Ritual Fire Dance.
The ensemble will turn up the Latin rhythms with the Mambo from Bernstein's West Side Story and Piazzolla's Libertango; and there's something for audience members of all ages, from quickstepping to a medley from Aladdin and disco dancing to I Will Survive, through to ending the night with a shot of Tequila!
Musical Director, Neavan Lobban, who will conduct the concert, said: “As ‘Strictly’ fever sweeps the nation, we’re turning up the festive fun with a concert that’s full of fun, flair, and fabulous music.
"From tango to showtunes and even a touch of disco, it’s going to be a magical afternoon, and I can’t wait to welcome everyone to the BGSO Ballroom. Don’t forget your dancing shoes!”
Orchestra chair and concertmaster Kat Galbraith added: “If you’re anything like me and count down to the return of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, you’re going to love the programme we’ve put together for our ‘BGSO at the Ballroom’ concert.
"We’ve got an American smooth, a quick step, tangos, waltzes; there’s even a cheeky cha-cha-cha and so much more! We hope everyone joins us for an afternoon of pure celebration.”
