BGT star headlines Stourbridge comedy gig

Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Jonny Awsum is headlining a comedy show in Stourbridge on Friday.

The comic, who received a standing ovation from the judges and the crowd after getting Ant and Dec on stage to perform a musical number, tops the bill at Katie Fitzgerald’s as part of the latest instalment of Fitz of Laughter Comedy Club.

The musical stand-up has been viewed more than 11 million times online since that audition in 2017 and went on to make the semi-finals of the show that year. He will be supported on the night at the Wollaston venue by Malaysian comic Nigel Ng and up and coming Brummie Lovell Smith.

Hosting as ever will be resident compere Wayne Beese, who brings the shows to the venue on the first Friday of every month under his Funny Beeseness banner. Beese, from Dudley, said:

“Jonny Awsum is a feelgood comic in every sense of the word. A really talented musician who’ll get the whole crowd laughing – and singing along – to his witty ditties.

“In support, Nigel has been snapped up by the same agent that manages the likes of Michael McIntyre and Jimmy Carr, so clearly great things are expected of him. And Lovell is a local lad who is very new to the game but already making waves.

“It’s a fantastic line up and I would urge people to snap up tickets to come along and support live comedy on their doorsteps.”

Tickets for the show cost £10 and are available at funnybeeseness.co.uk.

Fitz of Laughter has run at Katie Fitzgerald’s for five years on the first Friday of every month. It has hosted the likes of Joe Lycett, Tom Stade, Reginald D Hunter, Seann Walsh and more since it opened.

Funny Beeseness also run shows in Dudley, Brierley Hill, Halesowen, Sutton Coldfield and Whitchurch.
