Birmingham Weekender announces return for 2026

Birmingham Weekender is back from Saturday 29 August to Monday 31 August, bringing colourful installations, exhilarating performances and unforgettable experiences to the city centre.

The free festival is brought to audiences by Bullring and HSBC UK and produced by Birmingham Hippodrome. With over 100,000 people expected to experience the festival, and spanning across the centre of Birmingham, there will be a range of performances and activities to explore.

The programme will feature international productions and installations presented in partnership with Global Streets, innovative outdoor arts through Birmingham Weekender’s partnership with Without Walls and performances from local creatives, creating moments of joy, wonder and connection.

With large-scale spectacles alongside quieter moments of encounter, the festival offers a balance of energy, atmosphere and discovery over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

British Sign Language interpreted and audio described performances, accessible viewing areas, and a team of dedicated access hosts will be available throughout the festival.

Matt Evans, Head of Festivals & Sites at Birmingham Hippodrome, said: “Birmingham Weekender is all about transforming the city centre into a stage.

"Everyday spaces become places where people can experience something unexpected, encounter extraordinary artists and see Birmingham in a different way. We're excited to reveal this year’s programme in the coming weeks.”

Dan Murphy, Destination Director at Bullring, added: “Bullring is proud to call Birmingham home and to support events that bring the city to life.

"Birmingham Weekender fills the city centre with spectacular performances, creativity and excitement, creating unforgettable experiences for individuals and families alike.

"It’s a fantastic showcase of Birmingham’s vibrant cultural scene, and we’re delighted to support an event that inspires, entertains and brings people together.”

Birmingham Weekender runs from Saturday 29 August - Monday 31 August. The full programme will be announced in the coming weeks.
