Black Country BMX rider wins British Championship medal

Dudley BMX freestyle rider, Kaine Mitchell has achieved a major milestone in his career after claiming his first ever British Championships medal, finishing third to take home the bronze.

The result is Mitchell’s highest ever finish at the British Championships, improving on his previous best of fifth place. After years of hard work and dedication to the sport, the podium finish was a hugely significant moment for the 28-year-old.

Reflecting on his success, he said: "When I was at school I struggled and riding was the one thing that kept me on the straight and narrow.

"I've been entering British Championships for years now, and the highest I've gotten was fifth. This year it felt like I had no pressure because I had no expectations.

"I'm super happy to get this medal and I was stood on the podium with two of my friends - one won the European Championships and one got silver at the Olympics - it's pretty special."

Mitchell’s successful weekend was capped off by another major achievement as he was crowned 2026 National Series Champion. Across the four-round series, he finished as the highest-ranked rider in the UK adding another major title to his career.

The double achievement marks an important moment for the Dudley rider and comes after a number of challenging seasons, making the results even more meaningful for Mitchell and everyone who has supported him throughout his career.
