A huge outdoor music and comedy festival will take place in the grounds of Himley Hall on Black Country Day.

Yesterday started a five-month countdown to the big Black Country Musicom on Sunday July 14th, with tickets on sale now.

A number of tribute bands will take to the main open air stage and blast out classic tunes including Oasish, the UK’s official number one Oasis tribute band. Little Mix, The Spice Girls and Queen will also be represented, while a 1980s tribute party band will perform. They will be joined by a number of local bands including steel drummers and bhangra artists. 

As well as the music, there will be a comedy tent featuring a selection of top UK circuit comics. Meanwhile, for youngsters, there will be a fun fair and a whole host of children’s activities. They will include sandpits, garden games, balloon modelling, face painting and animal encounters.

A dedicated teenage area will have DJs, gaming tournaments, virtual reality, glitter artists and a chill out area, while there will also be football and other sporting activities.

There will be real ale and street food available to buy, with demonstrations of traditional Black Country crafts including canal art and glass blowing at the event, which will run from 12 noon to 7pm.

The main sponsor for the event is builders merchant Jewson, along with brewers Blind Monkey, building contractors Jessup Brothers, builders CE Bunch & Co Ltd and Whittakers Ltd. Councillor Pete Lowe, cabinet lead member for the Black Country Festival, said:

"This is hugely exciting – it’s the biggest event we have ever put on for Black Country Day and it promises to be an absolutely bostin’ day out for all the family.

"There really will be something for everyone, and we will use the money generated from ticket sales to support other free events taking place across the borough to celebrate the Black Country Festival. I would urge people to snap up tickets for what will be a brilliant event, celebrating who we are and where we’re from.”

Tickets are £9 for adults (aged 16 and above) and £5 for children (under 16). Under 5's can enter for free. Car parking is £3 (cash only) payable on the day.
