Boy arrested on suspicion of murder after teenager fatally stabbed at West Park

West Midlands Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of murder after a teenager was fatally stabbed at Wolverhampton’s West Park.

Police arrested him on Saturday night and he remains in custody , while enquiries continue.

Harleigh Hepworth, from Staffordshire, was discovered with fatal wounds at West Park last Thursday 7 March, at around 4.30pm.

The 17-year-old victim was found in a critical condition by paramedics and declared dead shortly afterwards. Ch Supt Rich Fisher previously said another young life had tragically been taken by knife crime.

"We are keeping Harleigh's family updated with this fast-moving investigation and our thoughts are with them at this devastating time," he said.

Police patrols have been stepped up in the area.

They have also activated the Major Incident Public Portal, where members of the public can submit any photos or video, which may assist detectives.
