Man arrested after double fatal shooting in Brierley Hill

A man has been arrested in Lancashire after two men were shot dead in a car on an industrial estate in Brierley Hill.

He was detained after police stopped a vehicle in Carnforth this morning (Thursday) and is now being transported to a custody facility.

The victims - two men thought to be in their 20s to early 30s - were found with fatal injuries inside a car, which was parked outside units off Moor Street, just before 3.30pm yesterday (30th September).

Police launched a double-murder investigation and believe the men, who are yet to be formally identified, were killed around two and a half hours before they were found.

The industrial estate has been cordoned off while forensic examinations take place and enquiries continue.

A police statement said: "Both men were pronounced dead at the scene; a post mortem examination will take place in due course.

"We sealed off the industrial estate, put cordons in place to preserve the scene and enquiries are already well underway.

"We’re appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time who saw or heard anything suspicious to get in touch.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat at our website or call 101 quoting log 3204 from 30th September."

Officers sealed off Springfield Road and Moor Street shortly after the attack and began carrying out house to house inquiries, as well as searching the nearby railway line, but detectives have only confirmed the details of the incident this morning.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they also attended.

A spokesman said: “On arrival crews discovered two male patients, both of whom were inside a car, it is believed they had been there for some time.

“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save either of them, and they were confirmed dead at the scene.”
