Brighten up the Black Country with Beacon

People are being urged to go bright for the Beacon Centre to support those with sight loss.

The charity, which supports up to 3,000 visually impaired people in the region, is holding its annualBright for Sight Day on Thursday, October 13th.

Anyone wanting to get involved just needs to raid their wardrobe to find their brightest outfit to wear on the day and then make a donation to Beacon.

It’s an easy way for families, schools, community groups and businesses to show their support and help spread the message that bright colours and good contrast can help people to make the most of their sight. Beacon Centre Supporter Engagement Manager Sophie Higgins said:

“We had so much fun on our Bright for Sight Day last year and we’re hoping 2022 will be even brighter!

“To take part all people need to do is wear a bright outfit, donate what they can to the Beacon Centre and tag us in their pictures on social media with the hashtag #BrightForBeacon.”

People can download their free Bright For Sight fundraising pack at beaconvision.org or donate £5 by texting BRIGHT to 70085 (texts cost £5 plus one standard rate message).

Staff from the charity will also be holding a bucket collection on October 13th at the Asda Wolverhampton Superstore on Jack Hayward Way next to the Molineux between 10am and 2pm.
