Bromsgrove venue premieres exciting new theatre course

The Artrix has launched an exciting opportunity for budding thespians to learn their craft with a new acting foundation course.

The scheme is run in partnership with Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance - London's international drama school which boasts many well-known alumni, including film star Gary Oldman and musical theatre star Katie Brayben.

This unique course is a collaboration, which offers conservatoire training within a professional arts setting. One lucky resident will receive a scholarship for the inaugural course. Director of Artrix, Hannah Phillips said:

“What a fantastic opportunity this is for local people and I’m delighted that a scholarship will be available to one of our students.

"Collaborating with Rose Bruford College to bring this course to Artrix marks the beginning of our centre becoming not only an inclusive arts centre, but also a centre for learning.”

Anyone interested in finding out more about this opportunity can come along to Artrix for a free day of taster workshops with Rose Bruford College teaching staff on Sunday 12th November, between 10am and 3pm. The open day will give prospective students an opportunity to find out more about the Foundation Acting Course as well as undergraduate and postgraduate Courses.

This is the first of these courses to be run in the Midlands, with the only other Rose Bruford Foundation courses taking place in London and Kent. The course aims to give emerging artists the skills and techniques to develop as an actor/actor musician either as a preparation for further vocational training at drama school, university or to consolidate existing experience.

Students will have weekly audition technique and practice, classes in voice, acting, movement, singing and ensemble and master classes with professional practitioners and companies. Applications for this 20 week course are open to anyone over the age of 18 and the course runs Monday to Thursday at Artrix, beginning in September 2018.
