Brummie Celeb Chef Announces Huge Leukaemia Fundraiser

Cure Leukaemia have launched a £1 million appeal to fully fund the expansion of the Centre for Clinical Haematology in Birmingham.

Michelin starred Birmingham chef, Glyn Purnell, has announced he is hoping to add a large portion of cash to the fundraising pot of a £1m Cure Leukaemia campaign.

The charity Cure Leukaemia has announced Purnell’s 'Friday Night Kitchen' will return for 2017 with bigger ambitions than ever before. The celebrated event, which last year raised £60,000 and is now in its third year, is making a venue change by moving to The Vox at Resorts World Birmingham.

This sees the Friday night fundraiser increase its capacity from 400 to 800, in an ambitious attempt to raise over £100,000 for the Centre for Clinical Haematology Appeal.

Fronted by the celebrity chef - who regularly features on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen and is the new host for Channel 4’s My Kitchen Rules UK alongside Rachel Allen - the event features a four-course, five-star dinner alongside a host of celebs to help serve up a feast to remember.

Previous guests have included TV personality, Rustie Lee; Masterchef host, Gregg Wallace; actor, Jimi Mistry; and X Factor winner, Sam Bailey. Glynn, who is a trustee of Cure Leukaemia, said:

“Glynn Purnell’s Friday Night Kitchen gets bigger and better each year, thanks to the calibre of our celebrity chefs and most of all, our fantastic guests.

"There is such a great buzz in the room, and everyone comes together to have fun whilst raising money for Cure Leukaemia, a charity that I am immensely proud to support.”

At the start of this year, the Birmingham-based charity launched a £1 million appeal to fully fund the expansion of the Centre for Clinical Haematology in Birmingham, which is known across the world for its ground-breaking work with blood cancer. Cure Leukaemia CEO, James McLaughlin, added:

“We are so proud to be leading the way with the treatment of blood cancer and the results speak for themselves; with more and more lives being saved every day."

This year's event, which has become a flagship fundraiser for Cure Leukaemia, will be on Friday October 6th. Tickets are on sale, with an early bird price of £165 in place until May 19th.

Tables of 10 are available, every ticket includes reception drinks, a four-course meal prepared by Glynn, and raffle tickets to win Sunday lunch for up to six people cooked in your home by Glynn and the team from Purnell’s. To book tickets, visit www.gpfnk.co.uk.
