Bus station robber jailed for almost five years for handbag snatch

A robber who targeted an autistic woman at Dudley bus station has been jailed thanks to members of the public who identified him from CCTV.

29-year-old Lee MacDivitt approached the woman as she sat with friends in March last year, He grabbed her handbag with such force that the handle was snapped off. Detective Constable Dave Laver said:

“We released CCTV images of the man we needed to find, and thanks to several members of the public getting in touch, we were able to identify and arrest him.”

“Thanks to people’s help, we have been able to bring him to justice for carrying out an opportunist attack on a vulnerable young woman.”

MacDivitt, of no fixed address, was jailed four years and eight months at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 22 January after admitting robbery.
