By-election in Cradley and Wollescote in August

A by-election will be held on in Cradley and Wollescote on 3rd August after the seat became available following the sad death of former Councillor Richard Body.

People have until July 18 to register to vote and must have an approved form of ID if they want to vote at a polling station.

Identification can include a passport or driving licence and some travel cards. A full list is available on the council’s website.

Anyone who does not have one of the approved forms of ID can apply for a free voter authority certificate. The deadline for applications is 5pm on July 26. Kevin O’Keefe, Dudley Council chief executive and electoral returning officer, said:

"There’s one month to go before this by-election and I would urge people to make sure they have everything they need to be able to vote.

"If people want to vote they need to be registered, it’s quick and simple to do and there’s lots of help available. People also need to make sure they have an appropriate ID if they want to vote at a polling station. Again, it’s quick and easy to do."
