Call for donations to help kids clothes project

A local voluntary project, praised for their “brilliant” work by a local MP, is calling for more donations of clothes for children aged between 2 and 12 years old.

‘Kids Clothes Project’ was launched in 2020 to support families by supplying good quality clothes parcels for 2 - 12-year-old children. The parcels are made up from pre-loved clothes donated by supporters of the project. Kate Ashby from Kids Clothes Project said:

“Across the Black Country there are many families who struggle to clothe their children and we want to support these families so that the children have good quality clothing and families know that someone cares about them.

“To date we have provided clothes parcels for over 1000 children. We are trying to also raise funds to help pay for clothes to complete these parcels where we do not have certain items from donations and to fund brand new underwear for these children. We have a just giving page set up in our name.”

Following a recent visit to Kids Clothes Project, Dudley South MP Mike Wood added: “We all know it’s expensive to keep buying new clothes for growing children – especially with the added pressure on household budgets caused by the global cost of living increases.

“That’s why the work of brilliant volunteer-led organisations like Kids Clothes Project is so important; bringing together the generosity of those who have something to spare, and making sure it reaches those who need it.”

Each clothes parcel provided contains seven of each key item of clothing, such as jumpers, t-shirts, trousers and additional items such as coats, pyjamas, dressing gowns and swimming costumes, along with a pack of brand-new underwear.

To date the project has provided clothes parcels for over 1000 children. Donations can be dropped off at Oopsy Daisies at Merry Hill or Little Lobsters Play Centre in Audnam.
