Carols, crafts and Christmas magic return to Delph Stables

The much-loved Christmas at Delph Stables carols and crafting event is back again this December for its fourth year – bringing even more festive cheer to the Brierley Hill canalside.

Families and visitors can look forward to free Christmas craft activities, warming hot drinks, mince pies, and the opportunity to join in with singing traditional carols in a cosy canalside setting.

Following popular performances in previous years, Brierley Hill Musical Theatre Company will once again return to entertain crowds with a selection of Christmas favourites.

Children will also have the chance to meet Mr and Mrs Claus, while carol singing will be led by Pastor Adam Weldon and the team from Albion Street Church, with lyric sheets provided so everyone can easily join in.

Canal & River Trust staff and volunteers have been hard at work preparing new festive props for this year’s celebration, adding a ‘snow globe’ to previous favourites such as Santa’s sleigh and the wooden steam train – all fun photo opportunities for the family.

Gemma Coley, from the Canal & River Trust, said: “Our Christmas tradition is fast approaching, and I’m really excited for this year. It really is the best way to start Christmas festivities.” 

Local councillor for Brierley Hill & Wordsley South, Cllr Adam Davies, added: “It’s always a pleasure working with the Canal & River Trust team on this event, and even better to see everyone come together on the night.

"With carols, musical performances, crafts and free hot drinks, we hope families from across the area will join us once again.”

This year’s event will take place on Saturday 13th December, with timings as follows:

• 4:30pm: Stables open for free craft activities, Santa’s grotto, and hot drinks
• 5:00pm: Christmas songs performed by Brierley Hill Musical Theatre Company
• 5:30pm: Carol singing led by Albion Street Church

The canalside and stables will be illuminated with Christmas lights to create a festive atmosphere, but attendees are also encouraged to bring a torch, headtorch, or the light on their phone to help with their journey to the stables and to read the carol sheets during singing.

There is no parking available at Delph Stables so attendees are once again advised to travel on foot.
