A cash prize of £25,000 is up for grabs every week in a new community lottery launched by Acorns Children’s Hospice.
The weekly Saturday evening draw has been launched to help fund the charity’s work caring for children and families. From every £1 ticket sold, 73p will go directly towards Acorns care for children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions.
The remaining 27p funds the lottery management and prize fund. Abi Floyd, Individual Giving Manager for Acorns, said:
“We’re so excited about the launch of our new Weekly Lottery. Not only will players get the chance to win up to £25,000 every week, they will be helping us fund our vital care and create precious moments for the children and families at Acorns.”
For each £1 ticket, players will receive a unique 6-digit ticket number. Entries closes at 5pm every Friday with the draw taking place every Saturday night at 5.45pm. Whoever who matches all six numbers in the correct order will win the £25,000 jackpot.
Additional prizes on offer are £1,000 (for those who match 5 numbers in the correct place), £100 for anyone matching four numbers and if you match three numbers correctly, you're set to pocket £10. Abi added:
“We rely on donations and fundraising by the local community for 70% of our income so players will be making a real difference. Every month you play our lottery, you would pay for a child to have a meal at one of our hospices.
"By playing for a year, you will help pay for a family member to stay overnight at one of our hospices. So, what are you waiting for? Please sign up now.”
Acorns Children’s Hospice provides care, support, fun and laughter to children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions, as well as support for their families. In the past year, the charity has cared for more than 870 children and supported more than 1,140 families, including those who are bereaved.
It costs nearly £10 million a year to run Acorns services and the charity relies heavily on the generosity of the community and local businesses for the majority of this amount.
