Closed carpark at Dudley Port station set to cause chaos

Five weeks of roadworks are set to cause chaos for commuters using Dudley Port railway station.

Centro will close the 36-space car park in Station Drive from Monday, with the re-opening scheduled for February 17th. There will be fewer free park and ride spaces available while the work is carried out.

Motorists have been warned not to leave their vehicles in the car park overnight on Sunday as they may be moved by Centro's contractors.

Councillor Roger Horton, lead member for rail and metro on the West Midlands Integrated Transport Authority's transport delivery committee, said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this work but we hope people appreciate that it is essential we keep important assets like park and ride well maintained."

The station will remain open throughout the project and pedestrians will still be able to access the main ticket office building on Station Drive.

The second park and ride facility, on Park Lane East, will also remain open but commuters are reminded its 47 spaces fill up quickly in the morning rush hour.
