Closure order for Old Quarter property

Police have successfully applied for a closure order at a property in Stourbridge's Old Quarter which has been causing people living in the area problems.

Officers have been working alongside residents to try and resolve ongoing issues which originate from a property in Lion Street, including anti-social behaviour.

People living in the area have expressed concerns around people taking drugs and rough sleepers at the property.

Working alongside Dudley Council, officers from the local Stourbridge Neighbourhood Policing Team secured a three month closure order on the property to prevent further criminal activity and to safeguard the local community.

This means the tenant is unable to live in the property for the next three months.

The order was made under the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, giving police power of entry and meaning anyone who isn’t allowed to be there could be arrested.

Dudley Council is also set to be taking further legal action following serious tenancy breaches, which could lead to securing a possession order and/or eviction in the long term.
