People with disabilities and health issues can access information about equipment and support for the home at a new centre in Quarry Bank.

Dudley Council will officially open the new assisted living centre on Cider Avenue on Friday 8 June at 2.30pm.

A one-stop shop for advice and information, it has rooms designed to replicate the traditional home showcasing a range of helpful equipment and aids for the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living space for people to try out. 

The centre is the second of its type to open in the borough with another one located in Coseley. Some equipment can be loaned from via the Community Equipment Service on a long-term basis and details of suppliers is available. Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for adult social care, will be officially opening the centre. He said:

“Dudley Council prides itself on offering support for people who want to stay in their home and we are delighted to be opening this new centre. People visiting the centre can try out a range of equipment and aids from walking sticks to specialist equipment to help get in and out of the bath”

The centre will also be used as a venue for Adult Social Care and Single Handed Care training.

Any person who lives in Dudley borough and is having trouble with everyday tasks because of frailty or a disability, can visit the centres. People are asked to make a prior appointment by calling the Adult Social Care Access Team on 0300 555 0055, no referral is needed
