Councillor urges residents to help identify Foxcote Lane fly-tippers

A local councillor is appealing for residents to come forward with information after yet another fly-tipping incident on Foxcote Lane.

Cllr Ryan Priest, Liberal Democrat councillor for Cradley and Wollescote, is asking anyone who has recently had brown carpet removed from their home to check who carried out the work or disposed of the waste.

The appeal follows repeated incidents of rubbish being dumped along Foxcote Lane, with residents and councillors continuing to call for stronger action from Dudley Council.

Cllr Priest has said that he is well aware that residents may have paid someone in good faith to remove waste from their property, only for it to have later been dumped illegally.

Councillor Priest said: "I’m fed up of seeing Foxcote Lane used as a dumping ground, and I’m fed up of Dudley Council dragging its feet on doing something about it.

“If you’ve recently had brown carpet like this removed from your home, please get in touch and let me know who carried out the work or who you paid to take it away.

“I’m not interested in getting residents into trouble, but if someone has taken your money to dispose of waste properly and then dumped it on Foxcote Lane, I absolutely want their details.”

Fly-tipping is often linked to a relatively small number of repeat offenders, including people offering waste clearance at suspiciously low prices.

Cllr Priest has also urged residents to be cautious when hiring people to remove household waste and to make sure they know who is taking it and where it is going.

The Liberal Democrats are continuing to press Dudley Council for cheaper bulky waste collections, tougher fines and enforcement against fly-tippers, and cameras on Foxcote Lane.

Cllr Priest added: “Foxcote Lane cannot just be left as a dumping ground. We need proper enforcement, but we also need to make it easier and more affordable for residents to dispose of bulky waste responsibly.”
